Beginners enjoy gentle meadows, while other trails challenge more advanced skiers with hills, ridges, sliding turns and exhilarating downhills. Trails have tracks set on one side for traditional skiers and a groomed flat surface on the other side for skaters. Snowshoe trails are available as a fun alternative.
An ultimate Ranch adventure is a guided all-day ski tour into Yellowstone National Park. Skiing past wintering herds of elk and bison, and spectacular thermal features is a memorable way to experience Yellowstone's special winter magic. Other tours explore the back country beauty and challenging telemark terrain of the nearby Spanish Peaks and the Gallatin National Forest.
Lone Mountain Ranch has a complete cross country ski shop, supplying rental and retail equipment, outerwear, ski accessories and many Montana- made gifts. Trail maps and expert advice on waxing and trail conditions are always available from the hospitable staff.
Lessons help beginners start out with a positive first experience and leave them excited to get out on the snow for more. Advanced skiers can improve their techniques and progress to higher levels.
One Ranch specialty is the delicious cuisine served in the spectacular Dining Lodge, with breakfast, lunch and dinner available to the public.
