Montana is formed by millions of acres of forests and thousand of miles of trails. During the winter months, the snow conditions can change dramatically from day to day, even hour to hour. It is best to be prepared for any change in the weather and to be mindful of safety if you are vacationing here during the winter months.
There are many activities to experience and enjoy during the winter months in Montana. However, the weather is subject to sudden and unexpected changes. Safety should be the chief consideration before taking off on any outdoor adventure.
If you are skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling it is wise to be on the lookout for rocks, and fallen trees. Other hazards can include caves, abandoned mining tunnels and decaying structures and equipment. If you are planning on a vacation in the winter in Montana, be aware and go prepared with proper supplies to include food and water and the appropriate clothing.
