Livingston Events
Spring, summer, fall or winter, there is always something going on in Livingston which will capture the interest of just about anyone. Shakespeare in the Park, Western Days, Livingston Crazy Days, Holiday Bazaar, Christmas Fair, and Christmas in Paradise are only a few of the events that bring the community together to display the talents and spirit which make Livingston such a cherished place to live.
ROUNDUP
Nowhere is western tradition more evident than at a rodeo, and Livingston plays host to one of the finest rodeos in the West. One of three "Gateway Rodeos" held in Livingston, Red Lodge and Cody, Wyoming, the Livingston Roundup is held every year on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Events kick off in the afternoon of July 2nd with the annual Roundup Parade through historic downtown Livingston. Features of the parade include floats, bands, horses, carriages and antique cars, to name a few. Starting time for the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association events is 8 p.m. with competition to include bareback, saddle bronc, calf ropers, steer wrestlers, bull riders, team ropers and barrel racing. Considerable talent is seen every year in the heart-stopping action. The evening's events are topped off nightly with a spectacular fireworks display. MARK'S IN & OUT ROD RUN & CAR SHOW
There is no better way to start off the gorgeous summer months than with an outdoor event like Mark's In & Out Rod Run & Car Show. For street rodders, car fanciers and spectators alike, what makes this show unique is that it is open to anything with an engine. More than 100 entries run the gamut of categories making for a wide variety of cars to view. A parade and poker run are just two of the highlights of this weekend's events.
PARK COUNTY FAIR
The Park County Fair is an annual four day event the whole family can enjoy, and it keeps getting bigger and better every year. This classic Montana fair highlights the hard work of youths involved in organizations such as 4-H and FFA. Competition and showman-ship are the culmination of their efforts as they vie for blue ribbons. In addition the fair features open class exhibits, a 4-H Horse Show, Bull-A-Rama, pig wrestling contest, lip sync contest, arts, crafts, games, food and rides. FIDDLERS PICNIC
The public is always invited and hundreds come to listen to some of the best musicians around as they gather at Doc Allison's farm for a weekend of music. Fiddles, banjos and guitars combine to fill the air with sounds of old-time fiddle music. Country western and blue grass. Held annually for over 20 years, musicians from all over Montana and neighboring states and Canada come for this straight playing, no competition event.
RANCHER'S ROUNDUP & HALL OF FAME
Come November, the cattle are shipped, the fields are planted and it is time for a moment of rest for Park County's agriculture community. The Rancher's, Roundup is hosted by the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce annually and includes dinner, entertainment and dancing. Area ranchers are nominated for the Rancher's Hall of Fame, and community spirit and love of neighbors is shown in the presentation of this award.
UPPER VELLOWSTONE HOME & GARDEN EXPO
The annual spring home and garden show is also hosted by the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce. This two and a half day event features the latest in home and garden products, area suppliers and new businesses. Events include activities for children, educational forums and good food. Attendance increases each year as this event grows into an annual tradition.
OKTOBERFEST
Held every fall, Oktoberfest is an event not to be missed. Livingston is transformed into a taste of the traditional German celebration. Dancing, live music, and vendors, providing such tastes as bratwurst, sauerkraut and beer, lend much to this festival attended by hundreds.
