Scenic Drives Around Livingston Montana
Paradise Valley Loop - beginning at Livingston, drive south on
US 89 to East River Road, cross the Yellowstone River and continue south on the east side of Paradise Valley. This road ends with the intersection of
US 89. Turn right when you reach this intersection, which shortly crosses the Yellowstone River and continue north until you are back at your starting point. *This drive will take you through the communities of Pine Creek, which has a general store, cabins, the KOA campground, and Methodist Church, Pray which has a
US Post Office and historic Chico Hot Springs Lodge. On the west side of the Yellowstone River, you pass through Emigrant, which bas a general store, saloon, cafe, post office and the quaint St. John's Episcopal Church.
Trail Creek Loop - beginning at Livingston, drive south on US
89 and turn right onto a gravel road where the Trail Creek sign is. Continue on this gravel road going north, then west, over the hill to the 1-90 intersection of Chestnut. Get on 1-90 going east and return to Livingston.
Crazy Mountains Loop - beginning at Livingston, drive east on 1-90 to Big Timber, getting off at the Big Timber west exit, driving through the town of Big Timber itself, and head north on
US 191 towards Melville. Continuing north to Harlowtown, turn left, or west onto
US 12 to White Sulphur Springs. You will have a choice to make at road 294 of taking a shortcut, or going all the way to White Sulphur Springs, and connecting with US 89 south following it to 1-90 east of Livingston, and returning to your starting point. *The communities of Big Timber, Melville, Ringling, Wilsall, and Clyde Park are along this
route.
Bridger Canyon Loop - beginning at Livingston, drive east on 1-90 to the White Sulphur Springs exit, continuing on the north through Clyde Park, to Wilsall, turning left or west onto Montana 86 which eventually brings you to Bridger Bowl and Bozeman. You can then pick up 1-90, and continue east to Livingston.
Mission Creek Loop - from Livingston, a short drive on 1-90 east to the Mission Creek exit, following this gravel road south towards the mountains which ends at
Swingley Road. Turn right and follow Swingley Road, which ends on the Frontage Road east of
Livingston.
Boulder / Big Timber Loop - from Livingston, take 1-90 east to Big Timber and exit on the west end exit. Drive to the center of Big Timber and turn right on McLeod Street, following it out of town up the main Boulder River, crossing the river two times. Continue on up the river and, when you come to the West Boulder Road, turn right and follow this road to Livingston. The West Boulder Road becomes the Swingley Road and ends on the Frontage Road east of
Livingston.
