Ennis Lake

Ennis Lake is located in Montana and is a haven for fishing and boating. It is fed by the Madison River and has a plentiful supply of varied fish and plenty of space for boating fun. Many anglers and boaters enjoy its peaceful waters, whether from its over three thousand acres of scenic shorelines or in canoes, kayaks or non-motorized boats.

Montana's Ennis Lake attracts visitors from across the state for peaceful fishing and boating experiences that are challenging as well as relaxing. Fishermen find a range of fish and boaters can enjoy the lake as long as their boats are non-motorized.

The lake is fed by the ice cold waters of the Madison River. It covers three thousand, six hundred and ninety-two acres and is situated in rolling terrain, far from the mountains and other larger landmarks, just east of McAllister.

Fishermen with licenses can catch varied fish, but there is a catch and release policy in place for graylings. However, other fish types are abundant, including trout, brownies, chub, white suckers, whitefish, sculpin and longnosed suckers.

The lake is carefully managed by the state. Swimming areas are marked off by floating buoys near the lake's Kobayashi Bay end, but otherwise boaters can enjoy a free run of the lake and entrance to the river with non-motorized boats, including canoes, sailboats, rowboats, kayaks and even inflatables.
