Big Hole River

One of the most scenic and productive rivers in all of Montana, the Big Hole, begins high in the Beaverhead mountains, off the Continental Divide, and flows 155 miles before emptying into the Jefferson River at Twin Bridges, Montana.

Known as one of Montana's premiere blue ribbon trout streams, you'll find high numbers of wild brown trout, cutthroat, rainbows, excellent brook trout fishing, and native fluvial Grayling.

The Big Hole's history is one filled with cattle ranching, native American legends, and fly fishing as a favorite pastime. Crystal clear streams begin at over 10,000 feet to form the headwaters of the Big Hole, a term used to describe high-altitude mountain valleys within the Rocky Mountains. Many excellent guided fishing and lodging operations are located along, or adjacent to, this wonderful river fishery, many of which are headquartered in and around the towns of Dillon, Melrose, Wise River, Jackson and Sheridan, Montana.
