Montana National Forest Camping: Swan Creek Campground

For an ideal camping retreat, try Swan Creek Campground in the Gallatin Canyon. Campers get wonderful privacy and all the natural forest wonders along with great fishing access.

Overview
Swan Creek Campground is located in the Bozeman Ranger District of the Gallatin National Forest 31 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. The Campground is adjacent to scenic Swan Creek, a tributary of the Gallatin River. All campsites are along the creek surrounded by spruce and fir trees. Roads are paved and campsites spurs are gravel.

Location
From Bozeman take U.S. Highway 191 south for 30 miles to the Swan Creek turnoff. Turn left and go 1/2 mile to the campground.

From West Yellowstone, travel 58 miles north on US Hwy 191; turn right at Swan Creek turnoff and go 1/2 mile to the campground.

Reservations

• Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
• Sites may be available on a first come-first served basis outside and during the reservation season.

• Three-night minimum on holidays.

• Season or Open Dates - Depending on weather conditions the campground may be open in early May and late September
• Elevation – 5800 feet
• Fee – Fee varies for camping is $9.00 per day. Group rate is more.

  Sites 7 through 13 on the Uppe Loop are all handicapped accessible
  Sites are all standard non-electric
  Sites are suitable for RV’s.

Additional Information
