Not far from Bozeman, Montana, you'll find Yellowstone National Park, one of the largest parks in the contiguous United States. With over two million acres of fascinating sights, you will have to plan your vacation carefully to see as much as possible on your visit. Pick the best spots and enjoy!
South of Bozeman, Yellowstone sits quietly with its scenic attractions. Folks come from all over the world for their best vacation yet. Filled with hot springs, geysers and mud-pots, this famous national park boasts beautiful rivers and waterfalls as well, and offers Yellowstone Lake for some great water fun.
Temperatures vary widely in the park depending on the time of year. It can get up as high as 90 degrees in the summer and 45 below zero in wintertime. The spring is ideal for a visit. Travel to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone for the colors and shapes that will take your breath away.
You can't miss famous Old Faithful, erupting about every hour and five minutes. You can see other geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin along with Old Faithful, such as Riverside, Grand and Beehive geysers. Morning Glory Pool is also famous with its incredible colors that resemble the flower after which it was named. Traveling on to the Lower Geyser Basin, you can see the Fountain Paint Pots, which are colored mud that erupts like geysers do.
Of course, wildlife is a large attraction at Yellowstone. Bears are a favorite, both the black bears and the grizzlies. You can also spot moose, eagles, and buffalo. Elk range here, as it is part of the National Elk Refuge. If you get out early in the morning or early evening, you will find it is the best time to see the animals.
Taking some hikes in Yellowstone can make your vacation here special. There are plenty of trails of differing lengths. All trails can be done within a day. In the Old Faithful area you can find the easy trail of Fairy Falls, about five miles long. A shorter but moderate trail is Mystic Falls, a little over two miles long.
