The Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park in Montana is a can't-miss for any vacationer. These caves, air-conditioned naturally, are lined with spectacular formations dating back millions of years.
This park has one of the biggest caverns of limestone in the US. You simply must visit this state park.
When visiting Montana, you need to stop by and see the incredible sights at Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, just nineteen miles west of Three Forks, Montana on Highway 2. Open year round, you can visit the special visitors center with displays and take advantage of the evening programs in the summer months. If you are there in May through September, you can get fascinating guided tours, too.
One half the visitors to the park come from Montana, but with an average of 600 people a day coming to see the sights, you know you will truly need to check it out. You'll see the stalagmites and columns, the stalactites and helicitites. Perhaps you will finally learn which comes from the ceiling and which from the floor of the cave!
Camping is available so you can stay a while. With a total of 40 campsites available (20 are tent sites), you won't have a problem finding what you need. There are fire rings and grills and a group campsite as well. If you don't want to camp, you can rent a cabin or a tipi! And pets are allowed!
Plenty of activities exist for you to have the adventure of your life in the park. Have a yummy picnic or explore any of the almost four miles of hiking trails. Not far away is a golf course if that's your favorite pastime. Take the kids to the museums in Three Forks and White Hall. Bikes are allowed, so you can fit in some mountain biking!
Outdoor fun abounds. You can go boating (hand launch only) or fish in the river. Enjoy the sun and forest surrounding. It's a place of wonder for the whole family.
